Marking the grand finale of our year-long collaboration with celebrated Spanish artist and designer Jaime Hayon, Stone Age Folk made its West coast debut at the Interior Design Show in Vancouver. Merging the fantastical worlds he created for IDS Toronto and Milan Design Week, the playfully surreal exhibit delighted viewers through its interactive nature and innovative use of Caesarstone.
Inspiration meets innovation
From September 28 to October 1, the Interior Design Show Vancouver celebrated the power of design, presenting new products and furniture, featuring talks by renowned designers and showcasing avant-garde concepts from around the world.
Beyond the surface
A highlight of IDS Vancouver, Stone Age Folk welcomed visitors into a fantasy world inspired by fauna and folklore and fusing the natural and mythical. Setting Hayon’s eccentric spirit and signature playfulness in stone, the installation presented unique, handcrafted pieces designed with a range of Caesarstone materials. Celebrating the surreal and inviting participation, it included Hayon’s signature clown faces and an interactive carousel that put a new spin on the beauty of quartz.
New to Vancouver
In addition to the Canadian debut of Hayon’s whimsical carousel, the Caesarstone exhibit at IDS Vancouver also featured an integrated contemporary kitchen with a stunning countertop in 5143 White Attica, combining beauty and function. A matching custom island with a waterfall edge and a bold centre accent in 3100 Jet Black completed the scene.
In his own words
“Working with Caesarstone quartz this past year has transcended my hopes and my expectations with its versatility to transform and adapt to my different usages for the material, whether it be functional or completely surreal. In experimenting with its luminosity, texture and all-encompassing qualities, I’ve found boundless possibilities in bringing novel ideas to life.” Jaime Hayon, Designer
Complementing the playful spirit of the installation and helping to inspire a new generation of artists and designers, young visitors to Stone Age Folk were able to create their own colourful clown masks like those in the exhibit to take home with them.
Time to inspire
To keep the conversation going beyond the event, visitors had the chance to win a stunning Caesarstone wall clock by sharing a photo of the exhibit with #StoneAgeFolk @IDSVancouver. Get your own Caesarstone wall clock and add beauty to every minute. See the collection and order yours here.
