From charming viewers of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette to starring in Love It Or List It Vancouver and Love It Or List It Too, Jillian Harris has become a household name in décor and interior design. Having recently undergone a complete renovation of her own home featuring an array of Caesarstone surfaces, we take a look at some of the exciting highlights and share our favourite rooms.
HEART OF HER HOME
As the one room that truly brings everyone together, Jillian made sure it was bright, airy, cozy and above all, welcoming. A dominate white palette is complemented by reclaimed wood beams above and rustic, wide plank flooring made from European white oak below. Bringing beauty to the surface, the countertops in both the kitchen and dining room are 5131 Calacatta Nuvo, paired with a white tile backsplash with a subtle crackle finish. It’s a tasteful space that invites you to savour and linger long past every meal.
A PANTRY WORTH RAIDING
More than simply a functional storage space, this unusually bright and beautiful pantry includes shelving to display Jillian’s collection of antique jars, scales and favourite cookbooks, while the majority of the food is found in the cupboards above and drawers below. The countertops feature the stunning 4600 Organic White from our Classico collection, continuing the colour scheme from the kitchen and keeping things light. Adding a little more natural beauty to the room, the oval window offers a clear view of the mountains.
Heading upstairs to the dreamy master ensuite, you’ll find a brightly lit room that lets you bathe in sunlight and bask in a mellow mood. With a large claw foot tub and a steam shower, this spa-like retreat features tile and marble for an intriguing mix of cool and warm tones. Topping off the space is the soft ivory white and delicate, powdery grey veining of 5141 Frosty Carrina from our Supernatural collection.
THE LITTLE BOY’S ROOM
For her son Leo’s bathroom, Jillian added a bold pop of colour with a Winter’s Eve blue vanity and brushed gold fixtures. A classic, nautical vibe is accentuated by a full wall mural with a vintage ship illustration from a local Vancouver company. Creating consistency with the ensuite, the bathroom countertops in 5141 Frosty Carrina also contrast beautifully with the painted vanity, and add durability to this frequently-used space.
YOUR COUNTERTOP CHOICE
From selecting countertops for Love It Or List It to upgrading those in her own home, Jillian shares some tips on choosing the surface that best suits your style and space. While it may sound obvious, one key tip is not to rush. As well as giving yourself lots of time to explore and find one you absolutely love, you have to allow plenty of time for measurement and installation, as countertops are one of the last things to go in. To be sure you know what you’re getting ahead of time, make sure you see and feel a sample in person. Lastly, always consider what colours and textures exist in a space before selecting your countertop to be sure they work together.
